Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most famous grape varieties in the world. It was first mentioned in France in 1635.

In Germany, the area under cultivation is 270 hectares, more than half of which is in the Palatinate.

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the very late ripening grape varieties. Its grapes contain a particularly large number of seeds, pigments and tannins, which gives the wine a deep dark color and makes it ideal for barrique aging and long-term storage.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines have great character and have the typical taste of black currants (cassis) and an aroma of green peppers.

A special feature of the variety is that the bouquet and taste of the wine remain unmistakable under a wide variety of climate and soil conditions.

As an accompaniment to food, the Cabernet Sauvignon is ideal for roasted beef or lamb with dark sauces, game or spicy cheese.
